THINGS YOU MAY LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT ME

Picking the right therapist for you is a vital step when you want to start therapy. An important starting place is checking that they have the right qualifications, however the most vital part of it is a sense that you can feel comfortable and can connect with them. I’ve shared a little more about myself and my journey so you can get a genuine sense of whether we can connect and whether I feel like someone who could support you in the way you need.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked across charity and community services, supporting people with complex needs, mental health challenges, domestic abuse, sexual violence and relational trauma. I offered both one-to-one support and delivering group sessions focused on self-care and mindful practices. This has contributed to over a decade of experience in frontline relational and mental health roles. These experiences gave me a deep respect for the courage it takes to face your past, break harmful cycles, and move toward something different, even when the path feels unclear.

My own therapy journey began in 2006 and has continued, on and off, ever since. I believe healing is not linear and doesn’t have an end point. Having a consistent therapeutic relationship gave me a space to be seen and heard without judgement, where someone stayed with me, even when things felt messy. These experience helped me make choices that honoured who I truly am.

As part of my psychotherapy training with Sherwood Psychotherapy training institute, I undertook clinical placements. This gave me clinical experience at First Step, a service supporting male survivors of sexual abuse, and The Olive Trust, which provides low-cost counselling for individuals facing a range of relational difficulties, mental health concerns, and traumatic experiences. These placements shaped my ability to hold space for shame, boundary violations, and trauma within safe, consistent therapeutic relationships.

All this contributes to how I can support you. I share this with you so that you know: I don’t just understand this work professionally, I’ve lived it too. I know what it takes to unlearn survival patterns and step into something more meaningful and free. I bring both my clinical training and lived experience into our work, and I’m here to walk alongside you as you find your way.
