My Journey

My own experience of therapy began in 2006 and has continued throughout different stages of my life.

Therapy gave me a space where I could be heard, understood, and supported without judgement.

Over time, it helped me make choices that felt more aligned with who I truly am and develop a deeper understanding of myself.

That experience continues to shape how I work today.

.

My Professional Background

Before becoming a therapist, I worked across charity and community services, supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties, domestic abuse, sexual violence, relational trauma, and other complex life challenges.

Alongside providing one-to-one support, I facilitated groups focused on self-care and mindful practices. Through this work, I developed a deep appreciation for the resilience people carry, even when they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves.

Over more than a decade working in frontline support roles, I witnessed the profound impact that compassionate, trusting relationships can have on people's lives. I also came to understand the courage it takes to face painful experiences, question familiar patterns, and begin moving towards something different.

My Training and Clinical Experience

As part of my psychotherapy training at Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, I completed clinical placements with First Step and The Olive Trust.

At First Step, I worked with male survivors of sexual abuse, supporting individuals living with the impact of trauma, shame, and boundary violations.

At The Olive Trust, I provided counselling for people facing a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties, mental health concerns, and traumatic experiences.

These experiences strengthened my ability to work sensitively with trauma, shame, attachment wounds, and the lasting impact of difficult relationships. They also reinforced my belief that healing often begins when we have a safe, consistent space where we can explore our experiences without judgement and at a pace that feels right for us.

What This Means for Our Work Together

Everything I have experienced, both personally and professionally, informs the way I work today.

I bring together clinical training, professional experience, and my own understanding of what it means to seek support when life feels difficult.

My aim is to offer a space where you don't need to hide parts of yourself or carry everything alone. A space where you can talk openly, make sense of your experiences, and explore the patterns that may be affecting how you feel, relate to others, or move through the world.

I don't believe there is anything "wrong" with you. Often, the ways we think, feel, and respond have developed for very understandable reasons, particularly when we've had to adapt to difficult circumstances or relationships.

Together, we can explore those patterns with curiosity and compassion, helping you develop a stronger relationship with yourself and move towards a life that feels more authentic, connected, and fulfilling.
